Experiments in Utopia
This work examines various ways one could create comfort or distraction in private spaces, to make them feel like the ideal space for living: in essence a utopia. Utopias, since the beginning of the idea of an idealistic society, have always been experiments.
Collective vision versus individual freedom is always the clash in utopia, so in this space it is kept personal. There is no attempt to create a new kind of collective society for a common good.
These are ventures into a different world in which one can exist because in this one it can be hard to know what is real and what is not, or reality is too disappointing. When one is feeling marooned, disconnected, disassociated, one way to cope (whether it is advisable or successful) is to turn away from the external world and creating a safe, comfortable one. Solitude in a possibly unstable state.
